Sberbank’s Kazakh unit sells $730 mln loan portfolio to Halyk Bank
ALMATY, Apr 13 (PRIME) -- Subsidiary Bank Sberbank, Russian top bank Sberbank’s business in Kazakhstan, has sold some of its loan portfolio worth 330 billion Kazakh tenge, or more than U.S. $730 million, to the largest bank of Kazakhstan Halyk Bank, the two Kazakh banks said in a joint statement on Wednesday.
The deal covers the car loans issued under a cheap loan program of the Development Bank of Kazakhstan and some unsecured loans, mortgages, and emergency loans, the banks said.
As of April 1, the consumer loan portfolio of the Sberbank’s unit amounted to 1.1 trillion tenge, or $2.4 billion.
